It’s nearly Spring and the world of trails is churning along at a rapid pace. First, we have a new COPMOBA chapter – in Ridgway! The Ridgway group has been on the move for some time now, working on trial projects, and hosting the IMBA Trail Care Crew at their RAT Fest (Ridgway Area Trails) event this past year. In January the Ridgway group requested to be recognized as a formal COPMOBA chapter, and that request was enthusiastically granted. Thank you to Randy Charette, Gordon Reichard, Rich Durnan, and Rod Fitzhugh for stepping up to form the first chapter committee. Rod Fitzhugh has joined the COPMOBA board of directors as chapter representative and all around valuable asset. And salute to the rest of the Ridgway group for all of your efforts towards trail building in your community.
On the topic of chapters; the Grand Junction chapter, which has been rather non-existent, is getting a shot in the arm to establish regular member meetings again. Look for a notice soon for time and date of the first one of the year. This is an opportunity for all GJ area members to get involved, be in the know about upcoming activities, and have a say in what happens in our area.
The trail building work is definitely in action this time of year, on the planning side of things as we anticipate a possible early start to work on the ground because of our dry winter. Some of the bigger plans afoot
